New to AIRA & IISNew to AIRAWelcome to AIRA! The American Immunization Registry Association, AIRA (pronounced “air-uh”) for short, is here to get you connected and engaged with the vibrant IIS community. If you’re new to AIRA or new to IIS, we’re here to help! AIRA supports and promotes the development, implementation, and interoperability of immunization information systems (IIS) through partnerships, peer and professional education/training, and resource development. First, check out the one-sheets below for succinct information about AIRA:
For more information on AIRA, visit the FAQ page or read About AIRA. Finally, sign up to hear from AIRA to receive AIRA updates and newsletters. New to IISIIS (aka immunization registries) are confidential, population-based, computerized databases that record all immunization doses administered by participating providers to persons residing within a given geopolitical area. They’re the most powerful tool for managing immunization records and supporting healthier communities. To learn about IIS, check out the one-sheets below:
Once you’ve read all of AIRA’s one-sheets, sign up for PHII’s Welcome to IIS email course. You’ll receive one brief lesson on IIS each day for 18 days, straight to your inbox. For a mini history lesson on IIS, read IIS: The First 25 Years, Origin Story to see how IIS began. Use this list of acronyms to help you decipher common acronyms within the IIS community. Technical Assistance Training VideosFor those new to IIS, you’ve likely heard tons of acronyms, such as SOAP (that’s not used for washing dishes) and AART (that has little—okay, nothing—to do with painting). AIRA has developed several brief (3–9 minute) Technical Assistance Training Videos designed to help new staff learn about technical aspects of IIS.
Still Want More?AIRA’s Resource Repository has incredible resources on anything and everything related to IIS, including data quality, data sharing, IIS fundamentals, IIS management, and more. Click on the Resource Topics on the right-hand side of the repository to search by topic, or filter by resource type. AIRA members and partners can also access AIRA’s Members Only website for a directory of member contacts and organizations, as well as member-only resources in the AIRA Repository. Email [email protected] for help accessing this portion of AIRA’s website if you’re an AIRA member. Finally, CDC’s About IIS page and AIM’s website have great information on IIS and resources for immunization program managers, respectively. |
