Strategic Initiatives


Executive Leadership Team (ELT)

The AIRA Executive Leadership Team (ELT) is responsible for contributing to and overseeing the organization’s strategic direction with a broad, cross-functional approach, ensuring alignment with its mission and long-term goals. Led by the Executive Director, the ELT includes the Senior Director of Organizational Development, Senior Director of Health Informatics, and Director of Business & Operations. Together, they provide vision and guidance to position AIRA for success.

 

 

Rebecca Coyle, MSEd | Executive Director

Rebecca Coyle is AIRA's Executive Director. She oversees the development and promotion of tools and best practices to support the implementation of immunization information systems as an essential tool in preventing and controlling vaccine-preventable diseases. 

Rebecca began her work in the immunization community in 2002 as the School and Childcare Immunization Coordinator for the Idaho Immunization Program. She worked in the Minnesota Department of Health as a Center for Disease Control and Prevention Public Health Advisor before returning to Idaho as the Immunization Program Manager. Rebecca joined AIRA in 2010 as the Executive Director.


 

Alison Chi, MPH | Senior Director of Organizational Development

Alison Chi joined AIRA in November 2011 and became the Senior Director of Organizational Development in September 2022. Alison began her work with the immunization information system (IIS) community as a Provider Outreach Specialist for the Citywide Immunization Registry (CIR) at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Alison’s work for the CIR spanned a variety of capacities including Director of Electronic Health Record-IIS Interoperability. She also worked as a Senior Administrator overseeing a data collection system used by Health Resources and Services Administration-funded community-based organizations to provide services to people living with HIV/AIDS.


 

Mary Beth Kurilo, MPH, MSW | Senior Director of Health Informatics

Mary Beth Kurilo joined AIRA in November 2014 as the Policy and Planning Director and became the Senior Director of Health Informatics in August 2020. Mary Beth oversees the following teams:

  • Immunization Integration Program & Special Programs
  • Standards & Analytics
Previously, she worked as the Director of the Oregon ALERT immunization information system (IIS) for eight years. She has been working in the IIS community for over a decade and has served as a past AIRA Board President and as a co-chair or lead for AIRA’s Education Steering Committee, Standards and Interoperability Steering Committee, and Executive Committee.

 

Amanda Dayton, MA | Director of Business & Operations

Amanda Dayton joined AIRA in 2015 as the Business and Grants Manager and became the Director of Business and Operations in October 2020. Prior to this role, Amanda worked for the North Carolina Immunization Program for 10 years, first as the Public Information Officer, then as an Adolescent Immunization Program Consultant, and most recently as the North Carolina Immunization Registry Manager.


Senior Management Team

AIRA's Senior Management Team (SMT) provides operational leadership and key input and subject matter expertise to inform the work of the ELT, ensuring operational excellence and an effective implementation of strategies across the organization. Led by the Executive Director, the SMT includes members of the ELT, all directors of the organization, and additional leaders who provide expertise and guidance across key areas of the organization. Together, they build a strong foundation for AIRA’s programs, partnerships, and initiatives.

 

 

Carmela Gupta, MPH | Director of Education & Outreach

Carmela Gupta joined AIRA in September 2014 as a Senior Program Manager and became the Director of Education and Outreach in August 2022. Prior to this role, Carmela worked for the Idaho Immunization Program for five years, first as the School and Childcare Immunization Coordinator and later as the Immunization Outreach and Communication Manager. Carmela has experience with immunization policy, outreach and communication, conference planning, resource and curriculum development, graphic design, and immunization information system forecasting. 


 

Maureen Neary | Director of Strategic Initiatives

Maureen Neary joined AIRA in May 2014 as a consultant and transitioned to Senior Project Manager in January 2016. In August 2020, Maureen became the Director of Strategic Initiatives. Prior to joining AIRA, she spent 15 years as a Senior Manager of an entrepreneurial publishing company. She has experience creating infrastructure, overseeing operations, launching websites, managing production, developing content, optimizing client services, and running events. 


 

Megan Fields, MPH | Director of Standards & Analytics

Megan Fields joined AIRA in October 2023 as the Director of Standards and Analytics. She brings over 15 years of public health expertise across informatics, communications, global health, and community engagement. At AIRA, Megan leads a team of business and technical experts that provide guidance and support to immunization information systems (IIS) in meeting national standards. Prior to AIRA, Megan led immunization campaigns focused on countering mis- and dis-information across technology platforms for the CDC Foundation. These programs were grounded in the growing need to improve communication, system functionality, interoperability, and data quality, leading to improved public health outcomes. 

 

Melissa McClung, MSPH | Director of the Immunization Integration Program & Special Programs

Melissa McClung joined AIRA in December 2020 as the Director of the Immunization Integration Program. In October 2023, her role expanded to include Special Programs. Her background includes five years of experience in software development, followed by 20 years at Denver Public Health where her work focused on applying innovative technology to public health. As an Epidemiologist and Project Manager, Melissa led the development and management of a mobile technology solution used to support public health preparedness activities, including mass vaccination and prophylaxis. Melissa was also the Project Manager for a closed-loop electronic referral project working to establish clinical-community linkages.


 

Chris Sorenson | Software Development Manager

Chris Sorenson joined AIRA in June 2022 as a Senior Technical Project Manager and became the Software Development Manager in June 2023. He has over a decade of experience working in software development and technical leadership roles. He has worked in the immunization information system space as an implementer and as an AIRA consultant for seven years of that time.
